One of the rarest rock t-shirts in the world has sold for $10,000 — the largest sum ever paid for a vintage t-shirt. The record-setting sale of a 1979 LED ZEPPELIN t-shirt on eBay has sent ripples through the competitive vintage clothing community. The item was sold by Kyle Ermatinger of Stormcrow Vintage, one of the top online destinations for sought-after authentic vintage tees. The recent completion of the transaction places the purchase as the world's rarest and most expensive vintage t-shirt.

"When I got the sale notification, my jaw hit the floor," Ermatinger said. "Given this shirt may be one of the only ones in existence, the price tag is completely justifiable. It's a rock relic, beyond rare. Admittedly, I still frequently pinch myself."

As the most scarce LED ZEPPELIN t-shirt ever produced, the article was printed in limited quantity as a unique way to replace conventional backstage passes for one of the band's historic 1979 Knebworth House concerts. Ermatinger acquired the item for $123 from the family who ran the shop that screen-printed the original shirts. "At the time, I thought I may have overpaid, until I got back home, looked it up online and noticed it was ranked #1 as the rarest ZEPPELIN t-shirt."

Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer is stepping out on his own for an appearance on the season finale of The Simpsons. In the episode titled The Ned-Liest Catch, Bart, feeling guilty for getting Mrs. Krabappel suspended after one of his school pranks, helps her escape detention, and Ned Flanders winds up saving her life in the process. When Edna and Ned start dating, he is surprised to learn she's been with many of Springfield's men, including Homer and Kramer.

It airs on May 22nd at 7 p.m. CST on FOX.

In the clip, taken in the band's formative days, its members discuss changing the band name from the original MOOKIE BLAYLOCK to PEARL JAM. Making a cameo right at the beginning is late ALICE IN CHAINS frontman Layne Staley.

It came complete with her real cell phone number, and caught the all-seeing eyes of FS Wisconsin crew members, who put Robin on the air during the Brewers' blowout win over the Astros. Hilarity ensued as fans from Waukesha to Wauwatosa entertained themselves by flooding her voicemail inbox.

The rest of the half-inning was pure raw comedy, with Braun's would-be lady wondering why her phone was ringing off the hook with calls and texts and why field reporter Telly Hughes would possibly want to interview her.

'It seemed like a good idea," she said in the ensuing interview.

Gutsy move, and it worked. Braun called after the game and got Robin's voice mail, which was unfortunately full.

"I guess it wasn't meant to be," Braun said with a smile.

A Texas man says there was a significant hole in the free prize he won last year at an Astros game.
On fan appreciation day, Bob Choate won 315 coupons from a local donut shop. Choate, a donut fan, as well as a baseball fan, was thrilled. Until, says the Houston Chronicle, he got a letter informing him he owed the IRS $237 in taxes for his “free prize.”
According to the 1099 form Choate received, his 315 free-coffee-plus-a-donut vouchers were worth $927.61, well over the $600 threshold the IRS sets before requiring a person to declare something as a gift or prize.
Luckily, the story has a happy ending: the donut shop owner agreed to cut Choate a check for his tax burden.

The Los Angeles Times profiles a Compton, Calif. mortuary that offers drive-thru viewings of the dearly departed, spotlighting a deceased former city councilwoman whose children opted to place her open casket in a drive-thru display.

The story says there are "a handful" of drive-thru funeral parlors around the country. The owner of the Compton location boasts:

"It's a unique feature that sets us aside from other funeral parlors. "You can come by after work, you don't need to deal with parking, you can sign the book outside and the family knows that you paid your respects," said Scott Adams. "It's a convenience thing."

Alice Cooper is to make history by appearing in 4D.

This happens on Wednesday, May 11 at Battersea Power Station. Dubbed The Jagermeister Ice Cold Event, it will be the first ever holographic rock gig, and is being done to celebrate the release of the Alice Cooper box set Old School: 1964-1974. It will see the original Alice Cooper band (minus the late Glen Buxton) making their first appearance in the UK since 1972.

According to KFMB-TV, a David Lee Roth fan that lost his camera during the singer's 1999 concert in Austin, Texas is in the process of having it returned — thanks to the Internet.

Greg Aulick captured Roth's performance on a disposable camera but ended up losing it — and all of the priceless memories it contained — because he "had a lot of Jack Daniels that night calming me down a little bit," he said.

The camera was recovered that same night by Matt Sellars, who's now a director at News 8 and was at the same concert almost 12 years ago. He took the camera home and forgot all about it until a year later when he came across it and decided to develop the pictures.

"Late last year I came across the pictures on my computer again and I thought with Facebook and YouTube now we could probably find this guy in a couple of weeks," Sellars said.

Two baseball players from Western High School in Fort Worth Texas were dismissed from the team for sacrificing chickens in an attempt to improve their play. From what I understand, neither player is related to Pedro Cerrano from Major League.

Fort Worth Independent School District spokesman Clint Bond said the incident happened during Spring Break. Bond did not know how many chickens allegedly were killed. He declined to say how the two students were punished.

Baseball coach Bobby McIntire said he has not had a chance to talk to the students about why they did it.

It's yet another greatest hits album, but this one focuses on their so-called ballads recorded during their time with Geffen Records. Concessionaire Aramark signed a deal to bring a pair of “Bottoms Up” beer dispensers to Boston by Opening Day. The aptly named system fills a special cup from the bottom up in just a few seconds, vastly outpouring typical tap setups and keeping those aggravating alcohol lines moving.

“It’s another reason for fans to get excited,” said Aramark spokesman David Freireich. “We think people will be lining up and stopping by even if they aren’t planning on buying a beer, just to see how it works.”

POISON frontman Bret Michaels' attorney, Alex Weingarten, issued a statement on the singer's behalf on Friday, following the filing of Bret's lawsuit against the Tony Awards in conjunction with a mishap that occurred during the 2009 show, which resulted in a head injury for Michaels. The statement reads: "The Tony Awards dropped a piece of the stage on Bret's head, and then instead of doing the right thing, joked about it and played it off for ratings … Bret never wanted to file a lawsuit, but the Tony Awards have left us with no choice. They must be held accountable for almost killing Bret, and that is what we are going to do."

The Pulse Of Radio reports that METALLICA's record label is for sale — and one person interested in buying it is the man who founded Napster, against which METALLICA fought a legal battle more than a decade ago. According to All Things Digital, Napster founder Sean Parker is in talks to team up with two other private investors to purchase the Warner Music Group, where METALLICA has been making records since 1984.

Back in 2000, METALLICA launched legal action against Napster, claiming that the pioneering music file-sharing service was illegally allowing users to download METALLICA tracks without paying royalties to the band. Although the case was settled out of court, 300,000 users were banned from Napster as a result and METALLICA's image took a tremendous beating in the eyes of music fans.
Metallica are no longer under contract with Warner Bros. Music but the bulk of their catalog is under the WB umbrella.

JOURNEY is gearing up to unleash its latest album of brand new material, "Eclipse". The effort will be released in on May 24 exclusively at Walmart. The 12 tracks were written over the past 18 months by the core team of guitarist Neal Schon and keyboard player Jonathan Cain, with collaboration from singer Arnel Pineda.
"I'm in love with this record, which I haven't said about one of our albums for a long time," says Schon. "It's a rock record and it sounds amazing."

Meet Mitchell Tice... looks happy huh?

The beaming Florida Keys man, 40, was arrested last night and charged with stealing a box of sex toys.

Tice, a breakfast cook, allegedly swiped the items in January after breaking into a utility trailer owned by a couple for whom he then worked. Tice also allegedly pinched two laptop computers and a wig, according to a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office report excerpted HERE.

Tice was linked to the theft after his girlfriend, Pshantel Scott, told detectives that her beau “had placed a bag of dildo’s (sex toys) under their bed.” Scott, 38, added that Tice told her he stole the sex toys “from his boss’s trailer.”

Scott turned over the hot items, which “were placed into property.” The sex toys were later shown to the restaurant owners, who “positively identified the items as theirs.”

Charged with felony burglary and two misdemeanor counts, Tice is being held in lieu of $4000 bond at a county lockup.

Jon Bon Jovi has acused Apple CEO Steve Jobs of being "personally responsible for killing the music business" with iTunes in an article posted HERE.
In an interview with the London-based Sunday Times Magazine, sounding a bit like an old man (which he is now) protective of his lawn — the quote literally starts with “kids today”. Bon Jovi bemoaned the fact that the young’uns no longer have “the experience of putting the headphones on, turning it up to 10, holding the jacket, closing their eyes and getting lost in an album, and the beauty of taking your allowance money and making a decision based on the jacket, not knowing what the record sounded like, and looking at a couple of still pictures and imagining it."

Morn the loss of vinyl or CD's all you will Jon, but Steve Jobs did a pretty spectacular job (pun intended) of monetizing music and made it available to a wider audience via iTunes - literally SAVING the music industry from themselves, expanding your audience and giving you your cut of the profits in the process.

But let's humor Jon and count the ways iTunes is KILLING his music.

At last check, Jon, I still see all your music on iTunes. I still see all your movies (including the stellar "Moonlight and Valentino", "U 571" and episodes of "Ally McBeal" still on iTunes.

The experience of a kid today plugging into a turntable and carting around his LP's - the iPod is much less encumbering to the "kids of today". And, by the way, I personally don't remember listening to my vinyl copy of "7800 Degrees Fahrenheit" and it being particularly "Magical".

At last check, I believe you and the boys made something on the order of $200+ MILLION last year touring. That would make you... carry the 1... cross out the zero.... THE NUMBER ONE TOURING ACT OF 2010!!!! Plus, the Circle Tour continues to rank (at this point in time) 9th ALL TIME in the HISTORY of TOURS in North AMERICA.

With some wildly inappropriate tweets, the quack has been silenced.

Comedian Gilbert Gottfried sent out a slate of offensive twitter missives about the tragic Japanese earthquake and tsunami, and instead of drawing laughs, it cost him his job. The longtime voice of the iconic Aflac Duck, Gottfried was fired by the insurance company on Monday, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Gilbert's recent comments about the crisis in Japan were lacking in humor and certainly do not represent the thoughts and feelings of anyone at Aflac. There is no place for anything but compassion and concern during these difficult times."

Gottfried's tweets certainly didn't show compassion. Buzzfeed compiled screen captures of the tweets, which were later deleted from the comedian's feed. Amongst the worst:

"I just split up with my girlfriend, but like the Japanese say, "They'll be another one floating by any minute now."

UPDATE - Gottfrield issued a statement of apology for his offensive tweets (via People):

An Iowa man (above) has vowed to subsist on nothing but beer and water for the 46 days from Ash Wednesday until Easter, on April 24.

J. Wilson is a home brewer, beer blogger and editor of the weekly Adams County Free Press newspaper. The married father of two, who describes himself as a nondenominational Christian, says he became fascinated with the 300-year-old tale of doppelbock beer known as "liquid bread," brewed by German monks who were not allowed to eat food during Lent.

"The idea came to me a couple years ago, and it didn't really make sense then, my wife quickly pointed out," said Wilson, 38, adding that he worked 13 hours a day in a restaurant back then. "I did not live the life of a monk at that time."

But with preparations that began in August, including bulking up from his normal 140 pounds to 160 since Thanksgiving, Wilson says he was ready to give it a go. He says he already was down to 157 pounds by Thursday.

He's living on four 12-ounce Illuminator Doppelbocks a day, brewed for him by the Rock Bottom Brewery in Des Moines. Each beer contains just under 300 calories and is roughly 6.7 percent alcohol.

Before taking the name U2, the Irish band called themselves Hype. In 1977 they had a song called "Street Mission," and it will be performed by the musician-actors in Killing Bono, a film that opens in the U.K. on April 1st.

The comedy is based on the lives of two classmates who left the band that would become U2. The film chronicles U2's career from high school through their 1987 breakthrough album, The Joshua Tree. There is no word on when the film and soundtrack will be released in the U.S.

A Palm Bay woman is facing child-neglect charges after officers found her intoxicated in a home with two children.

Emergency dispatchers received a 911 call from a female caller but were unable to understand her on the phone, according to police.

On a recording of two 911 calls, a woman says she called 911 mistakenly while trying to connect with her cell-phone-service provider.

When officers arrived at the home on southeast Aspen Road they found 28-year-old Rebecca Dove, who was intoxicated and said she had taken Oxycontin and Xanax along with other medications.

The officers were alarmed to realize that a 10-year-old girl and infant boy also were within the house, according to police.

"Our officers discovered evidence of drug use and paraphernalia within easy access to the children," said police Sgt. Chris Imel. "The female was the only adult in the residence and she was in no state to care for these children."

Dove was arrested on child neglect and drug charges. The Florida Department of Children and Families removed the children from the home.

One retirement community in Estero, Florida got some excitement this weekend when a nude burglar was caught on camera stealing sausages from the community club house, KWCH Eyewitness News reports.

34-year-old Joshua Abernathy can be seen in the video below, wandering around the clubhouse stark naked as he casually removes the links from the ice box and shows himself out.

Abernathy was also accused of stealing napkins and a First-Aid kit, making his sausage-related intentions that much more baffling. He was arrested after being recognized on the video.

Trisha Knuth says she even slept with her son in his hospital bed. She says his skin looks beautiful and doctors are amazed at his progress.
Charlie had his breathing tube removed Wednesday night.

A couple that runs a Maine redemption center and a Massachusetts man were indicted this week for allegedly redeeming beverage containers in Maine that were bought in other states.

Thomas and Megan Woodard, who run Green Bee Redemption in Kittery, face the more serious charge of allegedly passing off more than 100,000 out-of-state containers – with a value of more than $10,000 – as if they had been purchased in Maine.

Apparently can refund scams are a serious issue in some places, as approximately 90 million out-of-state bottles are said to be redeemed illegally in Maine every year.

Stanley is unloading a black 2005 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class SL 500 on eBay.(see RIGHT) It has 55,000 miles, an automatic transmission, black leather interior, AMG sports package with a 5.0-liter V8 engine, power hard top and Bose sound system with a six-CD changer.
The starting bid is $30,000 and the auction ends on Saturday afternoon.

Slash, who tells Billboard, "I have a bad habit of collecting stuff that I don't necessarily use," is selling a 1966 Corvette Stingray, along with guitars, clothing and furniture. Beverly Hills auction house Julien's will sell the items on March 26th, with a portion of the proceeds going to an L.A. charity for abused and homeless adolescents. The 'Vette is expected to bring between 90 and 100 grand. The 14 guitars for sale include the Guild acoustic he used to record Guns n' Roses' "Patience." He's also selling two of his trademark top hats.

A Florida woman upset that a visitor to her child’s school was showing too much cleavage was arrested yesterday morning after she allegedly took matters into her own hands, literally.

Laura Campanello, 43, was leaving a meeting with her 17-year-old son’s guidance counselor at Bayshore High School when she passed a woman whom she believes was too scantily clad. After Campanello asked the woman--who was visiting the Bradenton school with an enrolling student--to cover up her chest area, an argument broke out.

According to a Manatee County Sheriff Office affidavit, Deputy Greg Jenkins, the school’s resource officer, arrived on the scene and advised Campanello that the other woman “was an adult and that I could not tell this lady how to dress.”

“Oh then I can…just do this,” Campanello responded. As detailed by Jenkins, Campanello then allegedly “pulled the front of her blouse down reached in with both hands and pulled both breasts out and squeezed them together.” The impromptu display in front of several onlookers resulted in Campanello’s arrest for disorderly conduct.

Campanello, pictured in the above mug shot, was booked into the county jail on the misdemeanor rap.

In an interview, Campanello, a former Spanish teacher from Ohio whose various medical conditions forced a recent move to Florida, denied exposing her breasts. “I am a proper person,” she said, adding that Deputy Jenkins was a “chubby, rude, lewd, and lascivious” man who “had it out for her.”

"Hey Joe...Trade You My Secret Formula For Your Jersey?"

One of the most closely guarded trade secrets in the history of commerce may be a secret no more: NPR's "This American Life" thinks it has found the exact recipe for the world's most popular soft drink in a 1979 newspaper article.

According to the show's host, Ira Glass, the drink's secret flavoring component, which was created by pharmacist John Pemberton in 1886, is something called "Merchandise 7X." The show's staff recently stumbled across the February 8, 1979 edition of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which published an article on page 28 about a leather-bound notebook that once belonged to Pemberton's best friend, another pharmacist in the Atlanta area named R. R. Evans. The notebook contained a number of pharmacological recipes--but the main entry, for students of commercial history, was what's believed to be the exact recipe for the soft drink: all of the ingredients listed with the exact amounts needed to whip up a batch.

So what's the secret to making Coke? Well, here's what was written in the notebook:

The recipe:

Fluid extract of Coca: 3 drams USP
Citric acid: 3 oz
Caffeine: 1 oz
Sugar: 30 (unclear quantity)
Water: 2.5 gal
Lime juice: 2 pints, 1 quart
Vanilla: 1 oz
Caramel: 1.5 oz or more for color

The secret 7X flavor (use 2 oz of flavor to 5 gals syrup):
Alcohol: 8 oz
Orange oil: 20 drops
Lemon oil: 30 drops
Nutmeg oil: 10 drops

One of the four men in the “Never missed a Super Bowl” club featured by Visa in an ad campaign before the big game has passed away at the age of 79.

“Why football?” Cook asked in the commercial. “It’s really the only sport there is, isn’t it?”

Bob Cook was a Packers fan that was sadly unable to attend this year because he was feeling too sick but watched his team win it all from a hospital bed according to the Associated Press and was surrounded by his family when he passed last week.

Our condolences go out to his family.

Ahhh... Little Jerry Seinfeld... what happened to you? A California man attending a cockfight was stabbed to death by a bird that had a knife attached to its own limb. Jose Luis Ochoa, 35, of Lamont, died about two hours after he was injured in neighboring Tulare County on Jan. 30, according to the Kern County coroner.

"I have never seen this type of incident," Sgt. Martin King, a 24-year vet of the sheriff's department, told the Bakersfield Californian.

Ochoa died of accidental "sharp force injury" to his right calf, according to the autopsy.

Page, a regular on The Young and the Restless, has overcome major health problems to become an overnight sensation. He was born with a congenital heart defect and had his first surgery when he was just three-months-old. Since then, he's had a pacemaker implanted in his chest and has to make routine hospital visits for maintenance.

"The Death Star" (aka Cowboy's stadium in Dallas) maybe is (unfortunately) aptly named.
Six people were injured, one critically, by ice falling off the roof of Cowboys Stadium in Dallas earlier today. Five of the injured were transported to local hospitals, one of them being critical. We're told the other injured person drove themselves to the hospital.

A rep for the NFL tells TMZ: "The ice and snow melting off of the Cowboys Stadium roof has caused several sliding snow falls onto the plazas. There have been several injuries. All stadium entrances have been closed except for the truck tunnel, which is away from the building by a very safe distance. All workers and visitors will now enter and exit through the tunnel until further notice."

JOHNSTOWN — In one area, Nancy Spencer of Walnut Grove and her son Scott had a contentious relationship.

She proclaimed that the Pittsburgh Steelers were the best team in the NFL.

He argued that the title belonged to the Green Bay Packers.

When Scott Spencer died unexpectedly a little over a year ago, his mother honored his devotion to his team by having his tombstone designed with the Green Bay logo.

Since she plans to be laid to rest by her only son someday, the other side of the double stone was engraved with a Steelers logo.

Spencer was devastated when the 39-year-old died unexpectedly at home where they lived together.

He will be very much on her mind when she watches a Super Bowl on Sunday.

“I know Sunday, he will be watching,” she said.

Spencer said her son had his first opportunity to see his beloved Packers less than three weeks before his death.

The team went head-to-head with the Steelers in Pittsburgh on Dec. 20, 2009 – and Spencer was able to get tickets for her son and his uncle.

“I don’t know what I paid for the tickets, but it was the best money I’ve ever spent,” she said.

“He got to see his Packers play.”

The heartbroken mother decided to allow her son’s personality to be reflected – even at the funeral home.

“When he was laid out, he had his tickets in his hand, his Green Bay shirt on, and had the old Green Bay hat that he always wore,” Spencer said.

Two little bouquets with green and gold carnations adorned the casket.

OBSTRUCTED VIEW SEATS AT THE SUPER BOWL

...that's just a take on the famous line from P.T. Barnum but as if the ticket prices at Cowboys stadium weren't bad enough for this year's Super Bowl ($200 to stand outside, $1,200 for club seats inside), the NFL and Cowboys owner have another surprise up their sleeve. Step right Up Folks....

Bleachers are being built to accommodate an extra 15,000 fans but, unfortunately for anyone stuck in those seats, the famous, ginormous video screen will be completely obstructed.

And, anyone who's attended an NFL game in the past decade knows what a big deal seeing the Jumbotron screen is. Replays are everything.

But, if there are suckers willing to pay thousands of dollars to sit in a tunnel and not get the full affect of the game, they should be allowed to do it.

Rush drummer Neil Peart will publish his fifth book, Far and Away: A Prize Every Time, on May 1st, although it will be available starting March 31st in the cities Rush plays this spring. Rush's tour starts that day in Sunrise, Florida.

The publisher, ECW Press, calls the book a retrospective of the past four years. "From the ups and downs of a professional artist to the birth of a child, this revealing narrative recounts 22 adventures."
