A Palm Bay woman is facing child-neglect charges after officers found her intoxicated in a home with two children.
Emergency dispatchers received a 911 call from a female caller but were unable to understand her on the phone, according to police.
On a recording of two 911 calls, a woman says she called 911 mistakenly while trying to connect with her cell-phone-service provider.
When officers arrived at the home on southeast Aspen Road they found 28-year-old Rebecca Dove, who was intoxicated and said she had taken Oxycontin and Xanax along with other medications.
The officers were alarmed to realize that a 10-year-old girl and infant boy also were within the house, according to police.
"Our officers discovered evidence of drug use and paraphernalia within easy access to the children," said police Sgt. Chris Imel. "The female was the only adult in the residence and she was in no state to care for these children."Dove was arrested on child neglect and drug charges. The Florida Department of Children and Families removed the children from the home.
