WOW! That Ad Really SUCKS!

From Consumerist.com
More than 100,000 votes are in and the winner (loser) for the Worst Ad In America is... (simulated drumroll) Staples' "Wow! That's a Low Price!" commercial.

With just over 30% of the vote, the winning ad, featuring the loudest, most enthusiastic, downright spastic Staples shopper ever, edged out Quiznos' cavalcade of costumed, singing animals (28.6%). It goes to show that the mere presence of kittens will always sway some voters.

Two early front-runners, Honda's Mr. Opportunity and Progressive Insurance's Flo campaigns, finished a distant third (18.7%) and fourth (15.5%) respectively. Meanwhile, the least ostensibly offensive ad of the bunch, State Farm's chummy, raven-haired insurance buddy, brought up the rear with only 7.1% of the vote.

Ask Dr. Ozzy

OZZY OSBOURNE CURED HIS TROUBLESOME "ATHLETE'S FOOT" FUNGUS WITH COCAINE -- SINCE THE SUMMER, BRITAIN'S "SUNDAY TIMES" MAGAZINE HAS RUN A COLUMN CALLED "ASK DOCTOR OZZY" WHICH HAS HIM DISPENSING MEDICAL ADVICE -- OF COURSE, IT COMES WITH A WARNING: "OZZY OSBOURNE IS NOT A QUALIFIED MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL. CAUTION IS ADVISED" -- IN HIS LATEST COLUMN, HE ADMITS TO HAVING AN UNSTOPPABLE ADDICTION TO SCRATCHING HIS INFECTED FEET -- THEN HE WAS TOLD THAT COKE DEALERS OFTEN CUT PURE COCAINE WITH FOOT POWDER -- OZZY WRITES (QUOTE) "FUNNY ENOUGH, THEY CUT THE STUFF WITH SO MUCH FOOT POWDER, IT WAS THE BEST TREATMENT YOU COULD FIND. ANYTIME I HAD AN OUTBREAK ON THE ROAD, I CURED MY ATHLETE'S FOOT BY POURING COCAINE ON IT. THE ONLY PROBLEM WAS THE PRICE, WHICH WAS AROUND $3,000 A TOE"...

Welcome To Game Day

Tackle Me Elmo

Police in Winter Park, FL said a man dressed as Elmo was attacked at a local music store on Saturday afternoon by a man who believed the Sesame Street character was a threat to him.
According to Winter Park police Lt. Wayne Farrell, the man had been hired to wear the Elmo suit for an event at Winter Park Village, and was on his break when the attack occurred at the Guitar Center on Orlando Avenue at about 3 p.m.
"He just wandered into the Guitar Center to look at instruments," Farrell said. That's when police say a man, who they said felt "threatened" by the Sesame Street star, attacked.
Farrell said the attack was "unprovoked."
"He immediately thought (the man dressed as Elmo) was a threat," Farrell said. Farrell called the ensuing struggle a "very physical fight," with multiple punches thrown.
"Elmo got the best of the guy," Farrell said. "He broke two of his fingers."

Rock Doc. "Darkness on the Edge of Town"

(Rolling Stone.com)

You've read about the Toronto Film Festival premiere of The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town, which documents the recording of Bruce Springsteen's classic album. Now you can watch the HBO's trailer for the film, which the network is airing October 7th. (The Darkness deluxe edition that's out November 16 will also include it.) Watch above as Bruce and his E Street crew talking about the arduous yearlong recording process, legal problems, and more.

"The footage is so great because the cameraman is being completely ignored," The Promise director Thom Zimny told Rolling Stone . "There's no narration, and you literally see the camera get out of the way of the band at times. The biggest treat, however, is seeing the working relationship between Bruce, the band and [producer] Jon Landau."
